4th of July 2026 Activities
Check out the rundown below of what's going on in the Lake Norman area for July 4th weekend.
The Fourth of July, 2026 on Lake Norman is one of the best weekends of the entire year to be here. The lake comes alive with boats, flags, and fireworks in every direction, and the surrounding communities pull out all the stops.
Here's a rundown of everything going on that we could find so you can plan your holiday weekend. Please check the web to make sure these activities below are still on schedule before heading out.
FIREWORKS ON & NEAR THE LAKE
One of the most magical parts of July 4th on Lake Norman is watching fireworks burst over the water from the dock or from a boat. Several private clubs put on shows you can enjoy from the lake. While they are member-only events, the displays are fully visible from the water.
If you want to make it a full experience on the water, Carolina Cruising Charters offers a "Fireworks by Water" private pontoon charter on Lake Norman. It's a premium way to watch the show from the lake with front-row seats. Reserve early as these book up fast.
FRIDAY, JULY 3
Trump National Golf Club – Starting at 9:30pm. While this is a member-only event, the displays are fully visible from the water. If you bring a boat, position it across from channel marker D8 (Cocktail Cove). The fireworks can also be seen from the other side (Main Channel Marker 11ish) though not as clear a view as on the other side of that peninsula.
Lake Norman Yacht Club – Starting near dusk. While this is a member-only event, the displays are fully visible from the water. Located near the Trump National Golf Club.
Troutman Independence Day Festival & Fireworks -- Starting at 6:30 PM at the Iredell County Fairgrounds (630 N Main Street, Troutman). Free admission, with live music, food trucks, kids' activities, and fireworks.
Lowe's YMCA 4th of July Celebration -- Activities occur at 6-10 PM at Lowe's YMCA (170 Joe V. Knox Avenue, Mooresville). Free event featuring live music and fireworks, plus a Field of Flags display you can walk through any time between July 2nd and 5th. Each flag is tagged with the name of a veteran, fallen or active service member, or first responder -- a really meaningful stop if you're out and about.
SATURDAY, JULY 4
The Peninsula Club – Starting at 9:00-9:30pm. While this is a member-only event, the displays are fully visible from the water. If you bring a boat, position it near channel marker Ramsey Creek R5. Ramsey Creek Park is a good place to be positioned for it as well.
Davidson Patriotic Stroll -- Davidson is celebrating America's 250th anniversary this year with a full community event. Dress in red, white, and blue, decorate your bikes, wagons, strollers, or pets, and join the parade with special performances and family-friendly fun. Davidson has an absolutely charming small-town Fourth. Highly recommended if you have kids.
Concert on the Green -- Wrap up your Fourth of July evening in Davidson with a free outdoor concert by Yacht Rock Radio on the Village Green. No tickets, registration, or reservations required, just bring your lawn chair or blanket.
Birkdale Village -- 10am-1pm in Huntersville (8712 Lindholm Street). A free block party featuring bike decorating, a bike parade, and the Huntersville Fire Department's annual wet down. A really fun morning activity, especially for families.
Stars & Stripes Spectacular at Truist Field -- July 4th, featuring the Charlotte Symphony Orchestra performing American favorites… from John Williams to Gershwin and Sousa… followed by the WBT SkyShow fireworks spectacular. Gates open at 5:30 PM with fireworks at 9:15 PM. This is Charlotte's biggest fireworks show of the year and worth the 30-minute drive if you want a grand-scale celebration.
FREE FISHING DAY
Don't forget… July 4 is North Carolina's Free Fishing Day, meaning no license is required to fish public waters. The dock is all yours. Grab a rod and enjoy.
IMPORTANT TIPS
Lake Norman gets extremely busy on the water on July 4th, so if you're heading out on a boat, go early and make sure your navigation lights are working for the evening. Parking near event venues fills up fast, so give yourself extra time.
Wishing you an amazing Fourth of July. We hope you enjoy every second of it!
